UK Gambling Licence Check Chrome Extension

The UK Gambling Licence Check Chrome Extension compares a website’s domain with a copy of the Gambling Commission’s published register of licensed domain names. It shows the domain it checked and, when a register entry matches, the company name and account number shown in that entry.

View UK Gambling Licence Check in the Chrome Web Store. The listing showed version 1.0.0 when checked on 24 September 2026.

How to check a domain

  1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Open the website you want to check and click the extension button.
  3. Read the result and the register snapshot date in the popup.
  4. For an important decision, confirm the exact business and domain directly in the Gambling Commission public register.

What the results mean

Listed as active

The domain matched an entry shown as active in the register snapshot. Check the named licensee, licensed activity and current register record; a match is not an endorsement.

Listed but not active

The snapshot contains a matching domain entry that is not active. Check the current record before relying on it.

White label or parent-domain match

The extension may identify a parent domain or a different licensed company. Read the exact match and the company details instead of relying only on the brand name.

Not listed

The domain was not found in the snapshot available to the extension. This is not, by itself, proof that a website is unlicensed: the snapshot can be out of date, and the register covers Great Britain permissions rather than every jurisdiction or every type of website.

Register not loaded

The extension could not provide a usable register result. Treat this as unavailable information and check the Gambling Commission register directly.

Register data and updates

The extension uses a bundled register snapshot and displays its date. Version 1.0.0 also provides a setup page where a user can import a register file. It can request an optional permission for the Gambling Commission website to download the published register CSV and refresh the local copy. The extension’s scheduled refresh uses Chrome alarms; the optional site permission is separate from the local lookup.

Privacy and permissions

Read the separate UK Gambling Licence Check privacy and data-use notice for the package permissions, local register storage, optional update behavior and the current Chrome Web Store privacy disclosure. Review the store’s permissions and disclosures before installing.

What this tool cannot confirm

A register match does not tell you whether a casino’s games, terms, payments or customer support are good, and it is not a safety score or recommendation. For complaints or safer-gambling information, use the Commission’s official guidance and independent support services.

UK Gambling Licence Check is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Gambling Commission. Register data is a dated snapshot; confirm material details with the Commission’s current public register. 18+.
